Mental Health

Santa Maria Valley Youth and Family Center offers individual, family, and group counseling services to children ages 5-21, on a fee for service basis. Counseling is provided for a variety of issues including sexual abuse, rape, incest, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse/dependency, anger management, parent concerns, gang involvement, bicultural assimilation, questioning sexuality (gay, lesbian, bi-sexual), depression, trauma, anxiety, and other issues. The counselor works with the family to decrease presenting symptoms, strengthen family dynamics and increase resiliency. Medi-cal is an accepted form of insurance for these counseling services. A sliding scale fee for low cost counseling is also available. No one will be denied access to counseling services due to inability to pay. If interested in enrolling in the counseling services, a parent or guardian would need to call SMVYFC or walk in to the office.
